Eminem’s child has publicly come out as non-binary and shared their new name, Stevie Laine Scott, receiving an outpouring of love and support from fans.
The legendary rapper, known for hits like Lose Yourself and Love The Way You Lie, has long been praised for his deeply personal lyrics, often reflecting on his relationships with his ex-wife and children. This time, however, it’s one of his children who is making headlines with a courageous announcement about their gender identity.
A Journey of Self-Discovery
Stevie, 22, previously known as Whitney Scott, came out as bisexual several years ago. In 2021, they shared another significant step in their journey, revealing their non-binary identity in a TikTok post that has since garnered over 260,000 views.
In the video, Stevie shared photos from their past as ‘Whitney’ with the pronouns she/her, transitioning to images of their present self, Stevie, with an openness to using all pronouns.
When a viewer asked how they chose their new name, Stevie replied, “I spent a long time trying to pick a name I felt comfortable with, and the first name I felt comfortable with is Stevie.”
Fans Rally Around Stevie
Supporters flooded the post with kind and encouraging messages.
“Glad to see you are feeling more comfortable with yourself! Love yourself! You’re awesome,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “It takes so much courage to do that. You’re an amazing person.”
“Congrats on your journey to finding yourself,” shared another, while one supporter said, “We support you and are so proud of you! You are wonderful!”
Family and History
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is the father of three children: Haile, 28; Alaina, 31; and Stevie, 22.
Haile is Eminem’s biological child with ex-wife Kim Scott, while Alaina was adopted from Kim’s late sister, Dawn. Stevie was born in 2002, with Eric Hartter as their biological father. When Eminem and Kim reconciled in 2005, the rapper adopted Stevie, integrating them into his family.
Despite their close relationship, Stevie made headlines in 2021 with a TikTok video suggesting they learned about their adoption in an unexpected way.
In the video, Stevie lip-synced to captions describing someone telling them, “He’s not your real dad. You’re adopted.” Stevie then appeared to ask their father if the claim was true, only to receive reassurance: “I am your real dad.”
Stevie later learned about their biological father, Eric Hartter, who passed away in 2019 from an overdose.
Embracing Identity
Stevie’s TikTok posts not only highlight their journey of self-discovery but also reflect the courage it takes to share such personal milestones with the world. Their openness has inspired countless individuals, many of whom expressed admiration for their authenticity.
One commenter summed it up: “As a mother of four children, all I want for them is to be happy. I don’t care who they are or who they love, as long as they’re happy. I’m sure your family feels the same about you. Best wishes.”
Through their announcement and public journey, Stevie continues to advocate for self-acceptance, reminding others of the importance of embracing their true selves.
