Pop icon Adele, known for her soulful voice and candid personality, recently surprised fans with a bold statement about her drinking capabilities. During one of her Las Vegas shows, the singer claimed she could drink up to 25 bottles of wine in one night and still maintain a coherent conversation. The Someone Like You and I Drink Wine star humorously shared insights into her relationship with alcohol, sparking laughter and intrigue among her audience.
In her typical frank style, Adele admitted, “I don’t drink as much as I’d like to, but in two weeks, I’m retiring—I’m going to become a day drinker.” She went on to explain her drinking habits, saying, “The thing is, I can’t really handle liquor in general. But I can drink 25 bottles of white wine in one night, and I’ll be fine. I’d still have a normal conversation with you.”
However, Adele made it clear that her tolerance for hard liquor is far lower. “Three liquor drinks, and I’m 25 sheets to the wind. I’m heading to another planet,” she joked. She reflected on her past experiences, admitting that tequila, in particular, doesn’t sit well with her. “Tequila makes me aggressive. I’m ready to throw punches when I have tequila—it makes me f—ing vicious,” she said, adding, “I get hangover anxiety for about five days after, so I steer clear of it.”
At 36 years old, Adele has previously spoken about scaling back on her drinking, though she still enjoys it in moderation. In a candid moment, she revealed her concerns about having no post-retirement plans: “I better find something else to do because if I don’t make any plans, then I’m just going to become a drunk.”
Her openness about her relationship with alcohol has been a recurring theme throughout her career. In a past interview with Vogue, she reflected on how her fascination with alcohol was influenced by her upbringing, sharing, “It’s what kept my dad from me, so I always wanted to know what was so great about it.”
As her Las Vegas residency approaches its conclusion, Adele revealed her intention to step away from the spotlight for an extended period. Speaking to her fans during a show in Munich, she announced, “I have 10 shows to do, but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time.”
Adele’s humor and honesty about her personal life continue to endear her to fans, providing a glimpse into the relatable and unfiltered personality behind her powerhouse performances.
