Drunk Fans Allegedly Push 8-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Down Stadium Stairs at First NFL Game

A heartbreaking incident unfolded at an NFL game on December 1, when an eight-year-old girl, attending her first-ever football match after beating cancer, was allegedly pushed down the stairs by intoxicated fans.

Mia DeCamilla, who proudly held a sign declaring, “I Beat Cancer! My First NFL Game!” at the Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers game, became the center of a troubling story shared by her mother, Mikey DeCamilla, on Facebook.

The Incident

Mikey posted photos of Mia smiling with her sign, recounting the upsetting experience in a detailed caption. She explained that the family’s day, which should have been a celebratory outing, was cut short due to an incident in section 312 of the stadium.

“Sadly, we left earlier than planned,” Mikey wrote. “Yes, the Niners are losing, but unfortunately, we had to deal with the police because a drunk Bills fan decided it was cool to pass my husband and me and pushed our eight-year-old daughter, Warrior Mia DeCamilla, down the stairs.”

The mother’s post expressed her anger, calling out the behavior: “If you are this type of Bills Mafia fan, please unfollow our family now! Also, I hope the a**hole who thought it was cool to push a kid that stood in the cold with her cancer-free sign was so worth your win!”

Mia’s Journey

Mia’s story quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage online. Social media users on Twitter and Facebook shared the incident, expressing support for the young cancer survivor and condemnation for the behavior of the intoxicated fans.

Mia’s cancer journey has also resurfaced, with her family’s GoFundMe campaign gaining renewed attention. The campaign detailed her battle with embryonal sarcoma, a rare form of liver cancer.

The GoFundMe explained:

“In January 2022, Mia was diagnosed with Childhood Undifferentiated Embryonal Sarcoma of the liver. Mia completed four months of presurgery chemo. On May 23, 2022, Mia underwent a 12-hour surgery to resect her liver. She then followed the surgery with eight weeks of chemotherapy, finally reaching remission on July 25, 2022.”

The fundraiser, created to ease the financial burden of medical expenses, has raised nearly $25,000 to date.

Community and Team Response

Kate Glaser, a journalist covering the Buffalo area, amplified Mikey’s post, adding that the Buffalo Bills have reached out to the family to offer Mia a better experience during a future game.

The NFL and Buffalo Bills organization have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. However, the story has continued to generate attention, with fans and supporters calling for better accountability to ensure such events do not happen again.

Mia’s resilience and journey as a cancer survivor have inspired many, and her family remains determined to seek justice while advocating for a safer environment for all fans.
