“The claims have been dismissed with prejudice.”
Jonathan Majors, best known for his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is no longer facing an assault and defamation lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. On November 21, both legal teams submitted a joint notice confirming that “all claims against the defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice.” This development marks a significant turn in the legal battle that has followed Majors for nearly a year.
The Allegations and Legal History
The controversy began in December 2023 when Majors was convicted of assault and harassment. As part of his sentencing, he was required to complete a 52-week domestic abuse prevention program. Following the conviction, in March 2024, Jabbari filed a lawsuit accusing Majors of defamation, assault, and battery. Her legal team alleged that Majors’ defense attorneys used her testimony during the trial to discredit and defame her.
The accusations against Majors included serious claims, with Jabbari alleging that during a March 25, 2023 incident, he slapped her, fractured her finger, twisted her arm, and struck her ear, causing her to bleed. Majors was arrested on the same day after Jabbari was found in his Chelsea apartment. However, it was Majors himself who called 911, reportedly telling authorities that Jabbari might have overdosed or attempted to harm herself.
A Tumultuous Relationship Timeline
Majors and Jabbari’s relationship began in August 2021 on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where Majors played Kang, a character once positioned to be the next major Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) villain. The couple’s relationship ended in March 2023 following allegations of domestic abuse.
In June 2023, Majors filed a domestic violence report against Jabbari, but the Manhattan District Attorney’s office ultimately decided not to pursue charges.
Support from Meagan Good and Fallout with Marvel
Amid the legal battles, Majors found public support from his now-fiancée, actress Meagan Good. The couple began dating in May 2023, shortly after Majors and Jabbari’s split. Good stood by Majors throughout his legal troubles, offering consistent public encouragement during his trial.
Despite this, the fallout from the legal cases was substantial for Majors’ career. Marvel Studios dropped him after he was convicted of two misdemeanors, significantly altering his trajectory as a key player in the MCU. Reports suggest that Marvel has moved away from using Kang as its next central villain, with rumors pointing to Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Doctor Doom for future Avengers films.
Moving Forward
The dismissal of Jabbari’s lawsuit brings some closure to the highly publicized legal saga. While Majors’ legal and professional future remains uncertain, the dismissal of these claims is a notable step in his ongoing efforts to navigate the fallout of these allegations.
