A new Netflix series has taken the streaming world by storm, leaving viewers so captivated that they can’t stop watching—some even binging the entire season in just one night.
Since its release, the show has skyrocketed in popularity, quickly making its way to Netflix’s coveted Top 10 list. Audiences are raving about it online, declaring it one of the most exciting series to hit the platform in years.
Viewers Can’t Stop Talking About the Show
Fans have flooded social media with glowing reviews, with many calling it an instant classic. Some are so hooked that they’re recommending it to everyone they know.
One excited viewer wrote:

Some viewers are even regretting not watching it sooner, with one writing:
“My only complaint is that I didn’t watch it sooner!”
Meanwhile, others are marveling at how fast they binged it, with one fan sharing:

Critics Are Just as Impressed
It’s not just casual viewers who are praising the series—critics are also raving about it, with many calling it one of the most original and thrilling shows to come out in recent years.
Empire’s Alex Godfrey hailed it as:
“An impressively unpredictable show pulsating with vitality and urgency.”
Pat Stacey from Decider agreed, saying:
“It’s one that keeps a foot planted firmly in a recognizably real world. Excellent.”
The Guardian’s Leila Latif also praised the show, calling it:
“A sprawling sci-fi drama, strikingly performed, bracingly plotted, and filled with characters that rank among prestige TV’s finest.”
Perhaps the most jaw-dropping achievement is its Rotten Tomatoes score—the series has earned a perfect 100% rating, a feat that very few TV shows manage to accomplish.
What Is the Show About?
The series, which has been compared to hit sci-fi shows like NBC’s Heroes and the cult-favorite Misfits, follows a group of ordinary people living in modern-day South London who suddenly develop incredible superpowers.
Rather than focusing on traditional superhero tropes, the show explores what real people—with everyday struggles, relationships, and personal battles—would do if they suddenly had extraordinary abilities.
The ensemble cast includes a mix of talented actors, such as:
- Tosin Cole
- Adelayo Adedayo
- Josh Tedeku
- Nadine Mills
- Eric Kofi-Abrefa
- Calvin Demba
- Ghetts
- Digga D
- Eddie Marsan
With its gritty realism, intense action sequences, and deeply emotional storytelling, the show has struck a chord with audiences, making it a must-watch sensation.
The Vision Behind the Series
The mastermind behind the show is Andrew Onwubolu MBE, better known by his stage name Rapman. The British rapper, record producer, and screenwriter wanted to create a superhero story that feels real and reflects the experiences of everyday people.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Rapman explained his motivation behind the series, saying:
“I wanted to create a superhero show that felt realistic—what would an actual person do if they woke up with powers? That’s the story I wanted to tell.”
Beyond just telling an exciting sci-fi story, Rapman is passionate about expanding opportunities for Black actors and creators in the industry.
He shared his broader vision, saying:
“I want to see Black zombie movies. Black fantasy stories like Game of Thrones. Black wizards and magicians like Harry Potter. There are so many stories to be told, and by doing this, we create more opportunities for actors, writers, and directors.”
Netflix Has Officially Confirmed Season 2
Given the show’s massive success, it comes as no surprise that Netflix has greenlit a second season.
Speaking with Netflix’s Tudum, Rapman teased what’s to come, promising that Season 2 will be even bigger, darker, and more intense than the first.
“Season 1 is my Batman Begins,” he revealed.
“It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like. Season 2 is when you really see what they become. That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London? That exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything.”
He added:
“It’s going to be really interesting when we get into the writers’ room. We’re just getting started.”
With audiences hooked, critics singing its praises, and a second season already in the works, this Netflix sensation is showing no signs of slowing down.
