Selena Gomez Shares Heartbreaking News About Motherhood

Selena Gomez has opened up about an emotional and deeply personal challenge regarding her ability to have children, leaving fans devastated yet inspired by her resilience.

The Only Murders in the Building actress and global music sensation has always been candid about her health struggles, but in a recent heartfelt interview, she revealed that her medical conditions prevent her from carrying a child of her own.

Following her revelation, fans flooded social media with messages of support, admiration, and love.

Fans Shower Selena With Love and Support

Upon hearing the news, many of Gomez’s supporters expressed their admiration for her courage in sharing such an intensely personal matter.

One fan wrote: “Selena, your strength is truly inspiring. You are such a beautiful soul.”

Another commented: “She’s been through so much, yet she remains kind and strong. Wishing her happiness and endless blessings.”

A third person added: “Sending love to Selena. She deserves all the joy in the world.”

Selena Gomez’s Long Battle With Health Issues

The ‘Calm Down’ singer has never shied away from discussing her chronic health problems, which have significantly impacted her physical well-being and emotional journey.

She previously revealed that she has been diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)—a painful condition affecting the digestive system.

According to medical experts, SIBO occurs when an excessive bacterial population develops in the small intestine, leading to severe bloating, pain, nausea, and weight fluctuations.

Gomez addressed her diagnosis in a now-deleted TikTok post, where she clapped back at online body-shaming.

“This makes me sick,” she wrote at the time. “I have SIBO, which causes flare-ups in my small intestine. I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body, and that’s okay. No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”

Living With Lupus and the Challenges It Brings

In addition to SIBO, Gomez was diagnosed with lupus in 2013, which she publicly revealed two years later.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can cause a wide range of debilitating symptoms, including:

  • Extreme fatigue
  • Chronic pain and body aches
  • Severe inflammation
  • Fever, confusion, and rashes

Since there is no known cure for lupus, treatment primarily focuses on managing symptoms and preventing flare-ups.

Due to complications from the disease, Gomez underwent a life-saving kidney transplant in 2017, receiving a kidney from her best friend, Francia Raisa.

At the time, she described the transplant as a “gift beyond words”, though it also meant a lifetime of medical precautions.

Why Selena Gomez Can’t Carry Her Own Child

While Gomez has fought bravely through her health struggles, she has now come to terms with one of the most difficult realities—she is unable to carry a child.

Speaking in an emotional interview, she revealed:

“I haven’t ever said this before, but unfortunately, I can’t carry my own children.”

She went on to explain that her multiple health conditions—particularly lupus—would pose life-threatening risks for both her and a baby if she were to go through pregnancy.

“I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” she admitted. “That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

For Gomez, this was especially difficult to process, as she had always envisioned a future where she would experience pregnancy and motherhood firsthand.

However, she has since found peace in acceptance, recognizing that there are many different paths to becoming a mother.

Selena Gomez Still Plans to Become a Mom

Despite the heartbreak of not being able to experience pregnancy, Gomez remains hopeful and excited about her future as a mother.

“At the end of the day, I don’t care how I become a mom,” she expressed. “It’ll be my baby. That’s all that matters.”

She also noted that her own mother, Mandy Teefey, was adopted, further reinforcing her belief that family is built through love, not just biology.

Gomez remains grateful for the many options available to her, whether it be adoption or surrogacy, and is looking forward to the journey ahead.

Fans Continue to Rally Behind Her

As Selena’s emotional revelation circulates online, her fans have continued to flood social media with messages of love and encouragement.

Many have praised her for her resilience, honesty, and ability to inspire others despite her own struggles.

With her unwavering strength and determination, it’s clear that Selena Gomez will embrace motherhood on her own terms—no matter what obstacles stand in her way.
